Opposite Erretegia beach, Marty surf shop is the result of a wonderful human and personal adventure. Marty was first and foremost the nickname given to me by my family and friends from abroad, before it became the place where we share our passion for surfing that we know today. In 2008, I arrived on the Basque Coast with my endless summer dreams. At the time, living in the Basque Country was already an achievement in itself, and studying was a good excuse to justify my move to the region to my parents. The years went by, and like every lover of surfing and warm weather, I regularly travelled with my boards. Every trip comes with its share of surprises, but also breakages and costs! While it's always easy to find boards to start with, it's harder to know which ones to rent on arrival when you're no longer a beginner.

In 2016, I came up with the idea of facilitating access to the waves of the Basque Country for those who come to discover the region.

So I set up martysurfdelivery.com, an online surfboard rental site with home delivery. Foreign surfers appreciate the service, and I take pleasure in informing them about surf spots, restaurants and things to do in the Basque Country.

I love it so much that the following summer, I bought “Biarritz By Locals”, a small incoming agency set up by a couple of friends offering cultural, gastronomic and sports tours in the Basque country. Two years later, the offer was extended to include bicycle and electric bike rental on martybikerental.com.
